WASHINGTON (AP) - On a holiday weekend full of gatherings, the three brightest objects in the night sky -- Venus, Jupiter and a crescent moon -- are getting together for a rare one.
A senior editor at Sky and Telescope magazine says by Sunday and Monday nights, Venus and Jupiter will be separated in the sky only by about the width of your finger held out at arm's length.
On Monday night, they'll be joined by a crescent moon right next to them.
The lineup will be visible even without a telescope or binoculars to anyone looking toward the southwestern sky around twilight.
But get a good look this weekend, because it won't happen like this again until November 18th, 2052.
