It's an important issue to many here in the east; health insurance. When it comes to who has it and who doesn't, some counties here in the east are faring better than others.
The U.S. Census Bureau released a study this month that breaks down the number people who are uninsured across the nation state by state and county by county.
Those numbers are then compared against the national average for the category. For instance, the numbers are broken down by all races under the age of 65, all races age 18 to 64 and all races age 40 to 64.
So, for example, one of those break downs that encompass as many people in the east as possible would be those under the age of 65.
In that category, Greene and Duplin counties have more than 23 percent uninsured, Pitt County has from 17 to 23 percent uninsured and Edgecombe only has 7 to 12 percent uninsured.
The national average for this category is 17 percent.
These numbers are based off of 2005 figures.
