A group of mothers are fighting back after Onslow County Sheriff's deputies charged a man for sexually assaulting their daughters.
Back in July we told you about Ernest Van Cooney, the owner of D&E Ice Cream Shop, in Richlands.
He was charged with several counts of assault on a female, sexual battery and assault with a deadly weapon with several of his employees who are minors.
The girl’s mothers created a MySpace page called moms against predators.
The goal is for other Van Cooney victims to come forward.
But the mothers also hope to change North Carolina laws by creating stiffer penalties for sex offenders and providing counseling to all victims.
Ernest Van Cooney is due in court on December 9th.
