WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Forecasters expect Tropical Storm Hanna to make landfall on the northern coast of South Carolina at 2 a.m. tomorrow.
Tropical storm watches or warnings are in effect today from Altamaha Sound in Georgia to Sandy Hook, New Jersey.
The latest forecast calls for Hanna to march quickly up the Atlantic seaboard and to push into New England by early Sunday morning.
As of 8 a.m., Hanna had maximum sustained winds near 65 mph and was centered about 425 miles south of Wilmington, North Carolina.
The governors of Virginia and North Carolina have declared states of emergency.
Disaster planners also are keeping an eye on Hurricane Ike. Ike weakened to a Category 3 storm early today but the National Hurricane Center says it's still a dangerous hurricane.
