Small Business Center Announces October Workshops

Carteret Community College’s Small Business Center (SBC) will offer a number of workshops designed specifically for small business owners. The workshops are available free of charge.

Carteret Community College’s Small Business Center (SBC) will offer a number of workshops designed specifically for small business owners. The workshops are available free of charge.
On October 9, the SBC will host “The Bottom Line” - a workshop that explores how to set prices, calculates break-even points and how these items affect your marketing strategy. The workshop will be held in the Crystal Coast Civic Center, room 3.
Two workshops are will be offered October 14. “How to Reduce the Risk of Sex Harassment,” will be held 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the Crystal Coast Civic Center, room 3. The workshop will cover the foundations of sexual harassment in the workplace as well in other social arenas we find ourselves. The other workshop, “Tax Implications for Starting a Small Business,” will be held from 6 pm – 9 pm, and will be presented by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
On October 21, the SBC will hold “Let Your Numbers do the Talking”. In this workshop, participants will learn how to construct realistic cash flow statements by developing good financial assumptions.
“You will also learn how basic financial ratios are used in financial analysis and business decision-making,” said John Smith, director of the Small Business Center. “This is a working workshop, so bring your calculator.”
“How to Start a Construction Business” will be held October 23, 6 pm – 9 pm.
“This workshop will provide information to help you get off on the right foot if you are beginning a construction business,” Smith said. “It will cover topics such as formalizing the company structure; what licenses you need, recordkeeping systems and more. This is a must workshop for anyone starting a construction business, no matter the size.”
