The big story that got some of you riled up this week, as expected, was the sometimes overnight huge jump in gas prices after Hurricane Ike.
We didn't get one sympathetic note about the position retail gas stations found themselves in.
Many had to charge more because it cost more to buy the gas from distributors.
The Attorney General’s office issued subpoenas to 17 gas stations accused gouging the public after Ike hit.
Mistysnnc wrote, "I believe what should happen as a result of these gas companies trying to take advantage of people here in NC that we should boycott the gas stations and show them how we feel about what they did during Hurricane Ike...Why do they want to do this to others here...LETS just not buy their gas anymore."
And another viewer said, “It's amazing our government wants to investigate the gas retailers for gouging when the oil companies go up as much as $1.00 a gallon one day before Ike even hits. But you don’t hear them cracking down on them and you never will. You never heard of gas prices going up because of a hurricane until 3 or 4 years ago. This is just another excuse for gouging everyone.”
And on the Marine Corps disciplining troops who have too many tattoos, a note from monie marie, “The fact that a recruiter has an isolated tattoo anywhere on their arm should be used to help break the ice with a teen coming in for info. It's not like the public believes the tattooed Marine is going to eat our babies. It's just superficial to think a Marine can't do a job because of some ink on their arm.”
Of course we will continue to follow the gas story over the days to come.
Thanks all of you who wrote or called into our Viewer’s Voice.
