More than 30 kids are taking part in a summer camp to burn some unwanted pounds.

"Take Off For Health" is a project run by ECU and NC State.

Campers spend three weeks of summer at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia.

Organizers want to help overweight children take off the pounds while also teaching them how to live a healthier lifestyle.

Campers go swimming, boating and hiking.

The program's also designed to build self esteem as well as reduce the risk of diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure when they get older.

The program runs from July 26th to August 14th for boys and girls ages 12 to 18.
