A group that represents 55,000 state workers wants to lead the fight for health care reform.
The State Employees Association of North Carolina, or SEANC, hosted a town hall meeting about health insurance reform in Greenville Monday night. A panel of health experts talked about the need for more affordable health care.
The group says more than 44,000 people will lose their coverage for every week the country delays health care reform. The group also says that more than 14,000 people will file for bankruptcy because of mounting medical bills.
"No one is trying to take away a choice in providers, doctors, hospitals or pharmacists," said SEANC Executive Director Dana Cope. "What we're saying is we need meaningful health care reform in North Carolina."
Monday night's meeting was the first of ten town hall meetings. Here’s a link to the schedule: http://www.seanc.org/news/homepagenews.aspx.
