Community colleges in our state are launching a new quick job initiative.
Nearly all of the state's 58 community colleges are planning to implement “Jobs Now” programs where people can get job training courses to complete in six months or less.
The schools are using federal recovery funds to train people in a dozen high-demand fields like plumbing, carpentry and auto body repair.
Some colleges have already started the program. The rest hope to begin by the end of the year.
