At a time when the entire nation is up in arms about health care reform, one senator is learning about a new health facility here in the East.
Thursday U.S. Sen. Richard Burr (R – North Carolina) toured the Heart Institute at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Burr said he couldn't have picked a better time to check out the innovation and technology the heart center offers patients.
Nine On Your Side asked Sen. Burr about the health care reform legislation Congress is working on and those heated town hall meetings across the country.
"At the end of the day, I think the American people have demanded that this be a transparent process, that they understand not just what's in it but how it affects them,” said Burr. “Health care is a very personal thing and the American people have shown tremendous passion as it relates to the debate about what the future of health care holds."
Burr added the Heart Institute is focused on the patient, and he said that's what health care is all about.
