After weeks of relaxing at home and maybe spending some time out on the water, thousands of students woke up early and began their new school year today.
Like many other counties, Pitt County started their 2009-2010 school year.
Our cameras were at North Pitt High School as kids once again filled the hallways and class rooms.
The new school year brings the added stress of flu and budget cuts but for many students and teachers they are excited to get a fresh start.
Pitt County School Spokeswoman Heather Mayo says the first day back has gone great so far with no big issues.
By the way, students attending East Carolina University also went back to school today as well.
