WASHINGTON (AP) - There are a few empty chairs at President Barack Obama's meeting with bank executives.
News that Citigroup is repaying $20 billion in bailout money has kept the company's CEO from attending. A Citi spokeswoman said chairman Richard Parsons planned to attend but bad weather kept him from reaching in Washington time.
The White House said inclement weather also kept executives from Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley from attending. They're taking part by phone.
Obama is asking bank executives to support his efforts to tighten the financial industry.
But the tone for the meeting may have been set by Obama in a "60 Minutes" interview that aired last night on CBS. Obama said he didn't "run for office to be helping out a bunch of fat cat bankers on Wall Street."
