It was Black Friday when 7-year-old Cole Kennedy struck gold.
"I looked down and grabbed some money and counted $20, $20, $20, $20, and said mom, mom look how much money I found!" said Cole.
Tricia Kennedy says she was shopping at Home Depot with her son in Natick.
When they came outside Cole spotted hundreds of dollars someone accidently dropped in the parking lot.
"He said, mom look what I found and I turned around and he had a wad of cash," said Tricia.
Instead keeping the cash, the Kennedy family turned the money over to a Home Depot manager, who in turned it over to Natick Police.
The rightful owner still has not come forward.
Cole is only in the first grade but knows that the money belongs to someone, which is why he turned the money in.
"That would be stealing if we took it and you have to do a good thing and let people find their money," Cole said.
There was also a Bank of America receipt found along with the cash.
The Kennedy's say there was enough information on that receipt for police and the bank to track down the rightful owner.
