WASHINGTON (AP) - It's nice to curl up with a good book on a snowy day -- but hundreds of pages of proposed changes to the health care bill?
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Senator John McCain are accusing Democrats of trying to ram the health care bill through with dozens of unseen changes. So, amid a forecast for up to a foot and a-half of snow in the Washington area, Republicans are threatening weekend read-a-thon of the amendments.
A spokesman for Majority Leader Harry Reid says Democrats are ready to spend most of tomorrow on the reading of the bill. The delay could jeopardize Democrats' goal of passing it by Christmas.
McConnell says Republicans have made it "rather clear" that they're not about to speed things along.
Democrats are still trying to come up with the 60 votes needed to pass the legislation.
