Complaints about blogs and our story on a former Christian school Principal.
This week our viewers were upset about only a few stories. One was a blog comment about a fallen deputy and there are blogs about a story that ran in this six o'clock newscast.
That story was about sex charges against former Bethel Christian Academy Principal Michael Fulcher.
Fulcher is accused of having sexual contact with a student who was of age. The blogs on our website even before the story aired supported Fultcher and blamed the teenager for the situation.
Only one was a little more moderate. The blogger wrote:
"I take no blame off of Mr. Fulcher for his actions, but I do blame Bethel Christian Academy for allowing this girl to walk across the stage of Bethel FWB church on graduation night and receive her diploma. I feel that she should have received some type of punishment as well. She was old enough to know better."
And a blogger on our website- blasted us for allowing a viewers response that basically said Deputy Charles Brown, who was killed in a shoot out two weeks ago. deserved it.
The writer said: “It was obvious that this person had a beef with Dep. Brown, and while I understand that everyone has a right to their opinion, I believe that in these circumstances, the comment should not have been posted. The family has enough pain and grief to deal with."
We try not to edit the opinions of our viewers, but in this case we agree with you and have taken it down.
And Robert Lauth from New Bern wrote to say.
“Shame on your decision to sub basketball instead of regular network programming...on wed. the 16th. at 7pm. While ECU activities are popular, keep in mind that there may be a large segment of your viewers that are NOT basketball fans!"
Well, Mr. lauth we can't take the blame for this one.
it wasn't on our station. You may want to contact W.I.T.N.
