It looks like there will be a final vote on health care reform before Christmas.
With a vote of 60 to 40 the health care reform bill passed the Senate.
Early this morning the Senate voted to cut off debate and move to final passage.
The Senate plan comes with a price tag of about one trillion dollars over ten years.
It expands healthcare insurance to 30 million Americans and creates non-profit insurance exchanges.
The plan also bans companies from denying coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.
While oppenents of the bill, mostly Republicans, say it's going to hurt the economy, President Obama says the Senate vote was historic.
Democrats are on track for a final vote Christmas Eve.
After that, it's onto another battle -- combining the Senate version bill with the House version that already passed.
