One 14 year old boy and two 16 year old boys are facing felony dogfighting charges in Wayne County in two different dog fighting cases.
The charges stem from investigations in the summer of 2008.
“To force animals to fight each other until the death is absolutely cruel”, Justin Scally, Director of the Animal Control Services Department for Wayne County, said. “This type of crime commonly referred to as a ‘blood sport’ will not be tolerated in Wayne County.”
The first case happened in Dudley off of Will Anderson Road back on July 16th.
Authorities say a tip led to the bust. At that time, officers confiscated photos of the dog fights. Three pit bulls were removed during the investigation.
The next case, also in Dudley, began on September 15th.
Authorities say they found injured dogs, medical equipment to treat the dogs injuries including surgical gloves, needles and syringes. In all, seven pit bulls were taken from the property off of Stanley Chapel Church Road.
The boys in both cases are charged with felony dog fighting.
In another unrelated case, another juvenile was charged with animal cruely after torturing a family pet.
