What appears to be a computer problem at a company that processes debit cards for banks left customers unable to pay for anything Friday morning.

RBC reports they have tracked customers' problems to a processing firm and say that their customers were likely not the only ones experiencing problems.

Dozens of people stood in line outside of a Greenville branch Friday claiming that their debit cards were being rejected and that their accounts are showing up online as being overdrawn by thousands of dollars.

The branch manager tells Nine On Your Side that they are working with all customers to make sure they have access to their money. He says the problem only impacts debit cards and that the "glitch" with processing has purchases being processed with a multiplier of 256. In other words, a customers $5.00 purchase has been deducted from their account at 256 times that amount for a total of $1,280.00. He also says the problem is impacting other banks but as of 10:30 Friday morning WNCT has not heard of any other banks customers having problems.

WNCT will have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
