POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. (AP) - The Air Force says 19 members of a civil engineering unit are scheduled to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan for six months of duty.

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. (AP) - The Air Force says 19 members of a civil engineering unit are scheduled to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan for six months of duty.
The deployment of personnel from the 43rd Civil Engineer Squadron is scheduled to begin Wednesday night at Pope Air Force Base.
More than 100 members of the squadron have deployed over the past two years. The squadron's engineers perform maintenance of air bases and infrastructure.
The squadron has about 200 members who plan, build, repair and maintain facilities. The squadron also is responsible for explosive ordinance disposal, fire protection and disaster preparedness.
