WASHINGTON (AP) - President George W. Bush called the pilot of the ill-fated US Airways jetliner to thank him for saving the lives of the passengers.
White House press secretary Dana Perino says Bush effusively praised Chesley Sullenberger for his skill in bringing the plane to an emergency landing Thursday in the Hudson River near New York's LaGuardia Airport.
She said Bush also commended Sullenberger, a onetime Air Force pilot, for his bravery and heroic efforts.
