WASHINGTON (AP) - President-elect Barack Obama has been making a pitch for investment in new sources of energy -- a main feature of his $825 billion economic plan.

He's toured a suburban Cleveland company that makes parts for wind turbines. Obama says renewable energy can create millions of jobs and entire new industries. But, he says, the U.S. needs to act "right now."

Obama has also been trying to respond to critics of his spending plan. He's describing the proposal as necessary to create long-lasting, well-paying jobs and to help hard-hit industrial states like Ohio.

He adds that his first job in the new administration is "to put people back to work and get our economy moving again."
