Tonight, a new Gallup Poll says two-thirds of Americans like the way President Obama is doing his job.
It's the first survey conducted on the new president since he took the oath of office.
There's some concern that the poll numbers create unrealistic expectations for the president.
Obama's campaign manager doesn't think so.
"But I think the American people are very realistic about the challenges we face. They are sober about them; they realize it's going to take a long time to dig us out of this economic hole. In many respects they don’t want it to go to fast," said David Plouffe, Obama Campaign Manager.
Obama's early approval rating surpasses the early poll numbers of his two predecessors.
Senator John McCain made a relatively quiet return to the Senate after the election.
His failed presidential bid isn't stopping him from commenting on how he thinks Obama is doing so far.
It's fair to say he has mixed reviews.
"I think there's been an outreach to Republicans by the president and obviously we always like to see more of that. I just want to say that I'm very concerned about the stimulus package. There's so much unnecessary spending that will not stimulate the economy," said McCain.
McCain re-iterated his campaign theme that the tax cuts from the Bush administration should be made permanent.
Those cuts expire next year and President Obama says he will not renew them.
