Business is booming around the country in this tough economy for stores that sell guns.

The FBI says background checks for gun buyers last November shot up 42 percent from the year before. In December, they climbed by 24-percent.

One gun store owner thinks sales are up because of the slumping economy which causes people to worry President Obama could raise taxes on guns and the general fear that things might get worse.

"If the banks didn't have any money there'd be rioting in the streets so you're protecting yourself from Americans going crazy, rioting, looting and hurting each other," said Scott Moss, a gun shop owner.

The National Rifle Association says guns are used three to five more times to stop crimes than to commit them; however, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence says it's 22 times more likely that a gun will be used against you if you have one in your home.
