People around town are still trying to come to grips with what happened.
While friends and family struggle with the loss, the student government at ECU plans to remember fellow student Landon Blackley and Michelangelo’s manager Drew Kirby with a vigil next week at the Cupola on campus.
Overnight people left flowers and messages in chalk to their friends at the spot where their lives were cut tragically short.
Despite the shooting, members of the SGA we spoke with today said they understand it was an isolated incident and feel there are enough measures in place to protect them.
Even if you aren't an ECU student or know Blackley personally, students say they are mourning as a community.
SGA Secretary Kendra Parks said, "It was just an unfortunate event that happened and my condolences go out to his family and all of his friends because everyone, even people that didn't know him, we're all grieving as pirates together about this tragedy."
They say they are also feeling the loss of Drew Kirby and next week are planning a march to remember both victims that will start at The Other Place and end at the Cupola with the candle light vigil.
That will take place next Tuesday at seven o’clock.
