A North Carolina school system plans to offer jobs to more than
600 teachers whose contracts weren't renewed earlier this year.
Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that the Gaston County
school system said about 538 contracts renewals were sent to
teachers with up to three years experience. More than 100 other
teachers also will get offers this week.
School superintendent Reeves McGlohon says the district will
cover any gap in state funding by leaving vacant jobs open and
using federal stimulus money.
McGlohon said nearly every teacher who didn't get a contract
offer earlier should have one by the end of the week.
