Can you help police find Otis Thompson?
Every week Nine On Your Side teams up with law enforcement across the East to help put fugitives behind bars.
This week Fugitive Files takes us to Kinston where police say they're looking for a car thief who has been on the run for months.
Johnnie Byrd says, "The guy had broken in through the back…found the keys to the car, backed the car up to the building and took what he wanted." Kinston police say that guy is Otis Thompson. Investigators say what he wanted was this Audi along with tools and electronics.
Byrd says, "You know how you feel when someone has been through your stuff. It's not a good feeling."
While Byrd got his car back: "I definitely want him caught, it's ridiculous."
Officer Woody Spencer thinks you can help. He says, "If he's still on the streets, there's a good chance he's committing crimes and we sure would appreciate getting him off the street."
Spencer says he's wanted for stealing another car, too. He adds, "Many criminals, that's what they do for a living. They tell us that sometimes if they get arrested for a breaking and entering, they say when I get out, ‘I'm going to do it again, because that's what I do, it's my job’.”
And Spencer wants Thompson out of that job.
If you know where Thompson is, let police know; call Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at 252-523 4444. Remember your information can earn your some cash. For a look at wanted fugitives across the state just go to our home page and type in the keyword: “FUGITIVE”.
