Sarah Palin is down to her last hours as Alaska’s governor on Sunday.
Her resignation takes effect Sunday and it's still not clear exactly what she will do next.
Palin spent the weekend on a "good bye" tour of the state.
She says she plans to write a book and campaign for other republicans.
Some people think Palin resigned to dedicate more time to run for president in 2012 though there are republicans who don't think this move will help her politically.
"I kind of wish she had decided to stick out her term as governor. I think she was being very effective. The voters obviously had a lot of confidence in her. And once you start a job like that it seems to be you should try to finish it," said Senator Jon Kyl, a Republican from Arizona.
Palin says one reason she decided to step down was because lawsuits against her became a distraction to the governor's office.
