Camp Lejeune held a dedication ceremony for the Onslow Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation on Saturday morning.
Hundreds of people braved the heat to be the first to pay their respects at the new memorial.
It’s a fountain with more than 60 glass wall panels listing 58,229 names of those who died.
Some finishing touches still need to be done.
The memorial will be one of the few memorials in the country with the name of every person who died in the war.
Some veterans think it's a good addition for Jacksonville.
"It's quite a moving piece, bigger than I thought it was going to be, but it looks like it's going to be a big draw here for town," said veteran Bob Powell.
The memorial is free to visit.
It’s located on Highway 24 next to the Beirut Memorial.
