Members of the group Sojourners for Abolition and Reconciliation, or SOFAR, are walking from town to town with their message: abolish the death penalty.

Friday was day 6 of their 17-day walk. The group held a news conference in Williamston after walking about 14 miles from Parmele.

SOFAR organizers are calling on Christian churches to join them in the fight to get rid of the death penalty.

The group has another 180 miles to go on their walk. It will end in our state capitol.
