Pitt Co Schools vote on drug testing option

Athlete drug testing program gains popularity

The athlete drug testing program at one school is so popular, others schools want to try it too.
At a Monday night meeting, members of the Pitt County School System voted on giving all schools the option of random drug testing for athletes like the pilot program at DH Conley.
School spokesperson Heather Mayo says it wouldn't make testing mandatory for every school, but would give principals the choice of implementing it.
Mayo says not one student has tested positive in DH Conley's drug pilot program, since it began last year.
