Science took center stage at the second annual Regional 4-H Science Fair.
For the second year, Pitt County's Ag Center drew the brightest students from Beaufort, Martin and Pitt counties to show off their creations in science, math, engineering and technology.
Ag agents say a many project have the potential to help the economy.
“Give them the skills now that they can compete in the job market,” said Extension agent Danny Butler. “Not only in the tight job market--but some of these kids are going to be bright enough to start their own businesses. That's what's going to change our economy."
Butler says this year ag agents will spend more time in elementary school classrooms to introduce younger grades to topics like how chickens are hatched.
