Sine’s, cosine’s and the meaning of pi were on the minds of over 700 middle and high school students at ECU today. We’re talking about math. Both private and public schools competed in East Carolina’s 31st Annual Mathematics Contest. Students tested their knowledge in several areas including algebra and geometry. Competition was based on school size, but all the students were rewarded by getting a peek at East Carolina University.
"We get a bunch of prospective students, these are very, very smart students, very good at math, and these are the students we want to come to ECU," Dr. Christopher Carolan, Chair of the ECU Math Contest said.
Winners will move on to future competitions where they can win scholarships.
