An Illinois man charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the 1972 death of a Camp Lejeune marine will be returned to Onslow County.
Former marine Roger Gill tried to fight extradition but Vermilion County, Illinois judge ruled Onslow County Sheriffs Department could bring him back to stand trial.
In January, Onslow County Sheriffs Department arrested Gill in the death of William Miller. Former Belhaven Police Chief George Hayden and his ex-wife Vickie Hayden Babbitt were also arrested charged with the murder of William Miller.
Investigators say in a twisted love triangle Hayden and Babbitt murdered her then husband, William Miller. Hadyen and Miller were both Camp Lejeune marines at the time. Onslow County Sheriffs Department credits a key witness and the Jacksonville Daily News for the arrests.
