Some businesses in small towns hope to capitalize on the Interstate 40 closure.
The reason being they are located on the detour.
Drivers trying to get to Knoxville, Tennessee from Asheville now have to take Interstate 26.
Businesses along that interstate are already seeing more customers.
They expect that to continue as long as it takes to re-open I-40.
"It does still occasionally close the road with the weather and we certainly see a bump with that kind of traffic," said Margaret Roy of Holiday Inn.
Hotels, restaurants and gas stations along the detour are getting a boost from the increased traffic through their communities.
