Perdue speaks out on pending release of NC prison inmates

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Governor Perdue is speaking out, on the pending release of 27 convicted killers and rapists.
Three of those felons are participating in the supervised work release program.
Perdue says she supports the work release program because it allows prisoners to pay restitution.
However, Perdue is fighting the automatic release of these felons because they'll get out of jail under no supervision.
Perdue says that's something she's willing to look into.
"This is something that's historic in North Carolina and in America,” said Governor Perdue. “I'm not going to get into micro-managing the parole commission. I will get into trying to micro-manage the automatic release of people into an unsupervised living experience in every community of this State."
State attorneys are preparing their case which may be argued in court this winter.
Perdue says she's confident she's doing the right thing to stop their release.
