RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Raleigh police have released a 911 recording of a man seeking help for an unresponsive 10-month-old hours before her stepfather was charged with first-degree murder in her death.
Raleigh police released Tuesday a six-and-a-half-minute conversation between a man and a 911 dispatcher on Sunday. The man cries out to Cheyenne Emery Yarley as a dispatcher instructs him on how to resuscitate her.
It is unclear how the child died. The man in the 911 call says she swallowed a piece of toilet paper.
Twenty-six-year-old Joshua Andrew Stepp has been charged with first-degree murder in Cheyenne's death. He is being held at the Wake County Jail on a $500,000 secured bond.
His next scheduled court date is Dec. 1. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
