UPDATE: The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Lewis Perry around 5 p.m. Tuesday in connection with a weekend shooting that killed Nathaniel Moody and injured his brother.
According to investigators, Perry is charged with 1 count of first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of alcohol for sale without a permit. Deputies also charged Perry with attempted first degree murder on Tyrone Moody.

Two brothers are shot in the east, one is dead, the other is trying to survive.
That’s according to the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office who says around 3 Sunday morning someone shot Nathaniel and Tyrone Moody at a private club at 108 Lua Lane in Colerain.
Investigators say Nathaniel Moody has died.
Tyrone Moody is in stable condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office says they have the identity of the shooter, but are investigating the circumstances around it.
No charges have been filed yet.
