Four people are safe and sound this afternoon after a Coast Guard crew rescued them from their sailboat.

It happened yesterday morning, more than 100 miles southeast of Cape Lookout.

A rescue crew hoisted two people from the sailboat, whose mast and rudder were destroyed.

Two others denied assistance.

The Coast Guard Cutter Cochito towed the sailboat back to Fort Macon early this morning.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.
