DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - A White House official in charge of improving nationwide Hispanic education is stopping by a North Carolina community center.
Juan Sepulveda of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans will be at El Centro Hispano center in Durham on Thursday to speak with residents and local leaders about the status of Hispanic education. He will host two sessions.
The initiative was created in 1990. It focuses on federal efforts to improve Hispanic education.
The Department of Education said Sepulveda has spoken around the country to help guide the Initiative in a new direction. He is scheduled to speak in Atlanta on Friday.
