A group in Kinston came together to help people who are going without for the holidays.
The Young Women's Outreach Center there hosted the Harvest to save a Homeless Child today.
Our own chief meteorologist David Sawyer emceed the event.
The goal is to raise money to help homeless families over the holidays.
However, organizers say helping out the homeless goes beyond that.
"We have a lot of homeless families that are homeless not only just during the thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. As economic now, the hardship has hit hard here at home. We have a lot of families with no jobs, no place to stay, loss of homes and that's an on-going fight that we're trying to work with here in Lenoir county," executive director Joyce Clark said.
The organization will try to give people who are homeless a warm place to stay during the cold winter months.
