Hundreds of students were suspended from a North Carolina school district all because of a dress code violation.
Wilson County School officials say between last Thursday and Friday, a total of 207 middle school students were suspended for violating a dress code.
Officials say many of the students were suspended for wearing low-riding pants and un-tucked shirts.
They were all given a three-day suspension.
Many parents are upset with the suspensions and don't think its fair for their children to miss class.
School spokesman, Bob Kendall says strict enforcment of dress code violations helps prevent danger at the schools.
"You want to be able to see a student's waist and a student's pockets to make sure there is no contraband or a weapon," he said.
Kendall says similar punishements at high schools in the area have significantally lowered dress code violations there.
