Wednesday is a 1-Year Snow Anniversary for the East
Maybe you remember? The first snowflakes of the 2008 – 2009 winter season fell on eastern North Carolina one year ago today (November 18, 2008).
Flurries and brief snow showers dotted inland and coastal counties during the midday and afternoon hours.
The early start to the 2008 – 2009 winter season was further punctuated soon after the 18th, when another round of light snow visited our area on November 21, 2008.
A swath of 1 – 2” of snow dusted the landscape from Windsor to Elizabeth City in that event.
The biggest winter storm of the 2008 – 2009 winter season brought a widespread 2 – 6” of snow to the East on 1 / 20 / 09.
The forecast for Wednesday, November 18, 2009 does not include snow! But, rain showers have re-entered our forecast.
