Army fears anti-Obama politics at Palin event

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Officials at Fort Bragg in North Carolina say they don't want Monday's book-signing there by Sarah Palin to turn into an opportunity for political grandstanding against President Barack Obama.
So, they're keeping the media from covering the appearance.
Palin isn't planning on giving a speech. But a Fort Bragg spokesman says some of her supporters might use the media to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."
Base spokesman Tom McCollum says there are regulations aimed at keeping military reservations from becoming "political platforms." He says the only politician allowed to use that platform is the one who is commander in chief.
Officials have said Palin will only sign her books at the event, and won't stop to pose for photographs or personalize the books.
Palin began her promotional tour this week for a new memoir, "Going Rogue."
