MOUNTAIN VIEW, California (AP) - Most people haven't even begun thinking about shopping for this year's gifts - but Google is trying to put a bug in your ear for next holiday season. It is coming out with a new operating system and says it expects the OS to be ready for sale this time next year. The Internet search leader is providing a sneak peek at the OS, which is designed for netbooks. The free OS is named Chrome - after Google's Web browser. Google is trying to market the operating system as a faster, more secure alternative to rival Microsoft's Windows OS, which runs most of the world's computers.
