The men who play Santa Clause in malls all over the country want something special for Christmas this year.
Several national Santa groups want special priority for the H1N1 vaccine, because they are exposed to so many children. In some of the busiest malls, Santa sees about 400 children each day and by Christmas they’ve seen about 4,000 kids.
Plus, many of the men who play Santa are clinically obese, a factor that doctors have identified as high risk for the H1N1 virus.
As a precaution some Santa groups are making their Santas use hand sanitizer, along with the children. And they won’t be wearing the traditional cloth, white gloves, because they spread germs more easily.
