The man accused of kidnapping five-year-old Fayetteville girl now faces rape and murder charges.
Fayetteville Police say Mario McNeil raped and asphyxiated little Shaniya Davis last week. Officers say he took the girl from her home on November 10 and drove her to a hotel in Sanford. Authorities found her body Monday in a field in Lee County.
Police say they don't believe Shaniya was killed at the hotel, but they won't say whether she was killed in the field.
The girl's mother, Antoinette Davis, is charged with prostituting Shaniya. Police say they're still persuing leads and more charges could come.
