Four soldiers returned from Afghanistan in the most solemn of ceremonies.

Sergeant Joshua Kirk, Specialist Michael Scusa, Specialist Christopher Griffin and Private First Class Kevin Thompson were among the eight troops killed in one of the bloodiest attacks since the war began.

Their flag draped coffins arrived at Dover Air Force Base.. as President Obama weighs his top commander in Afghanistan’s appeal for an additional 40-thousand troops.

He is trying to get lawmakers in his corner as he wrestles with the future of the eight-year-old battle against the Taliban.. which harbors al-Qaeda fighters and Osama bin Laden.

The president again laid out the core of the mission during a visit to National Counterterrorism Center.. before summoning Congressional leaders to the White House.

There’s plenty of division among the President’s own advisors. Vice President Biden wants to consider fewer troops.. and a more targeted hunt for Al Qaeda terrorists.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is guarding his opinion.. while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is said to be leaning in favor of the General’s request for more troops.

The President IS hearing agreement on two points.. a complete withdrawal is off the table.. and he should take his time making this decision.
