Authorities in North Carolina are investigating a possible human trafficking incident, after finding more than a dozen people in a Texas van.
The passengers were picked up in a city bus on Monday.
Officials say the driver stopped at a McDonalds near Charlotte, when troopers were tipped off by a 911 call made by someone who knew one of the passengers.
Agents with immigrations and customs enforcement will determine the immigration status of the passengers.
Authorities say this is a case they don't see in the area very often.
"This is unusual. I mean, we hear it happening a good bit in Texas or California or somewhere. It's unusual coming through Charlotte, but it's the day and time," said Sgt. Ken Schull, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Two people have been arrested.
It's not clear if they were just driving the van or if they were actively involved in trying to smuggle people across the border.
