There's a new group in the country to honor the people who gave everything of themselves to save the stars and stripes.
The group called "Honor and Remember" came up with the flag to pay tribute to the men and women killed in battle.
George Lutz of Virginia founded the organization after losing his son in Iraq four year ago.
"The one symbol we do not have in this country is the symbol for those who gave their lives from the beginning of our country's history and recognizing what that means to this country," Lutz said.
Lutz came to Ayden on Saturday to recognize the new state chapter of the group in North Carolina.
Kathy Moore runs the North Carolina chapter.
Her son was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq two years ago.
The group wants congress to recognize the new flag as a national symbol.
"There’s more people then you think that are interested but they just don't know. So that's part of the basic task that we have and that's getting the information out, informing people letting them know that this exists,” Moore said.
For more information on the group just type in the keyword “Honor.”
