Greenville anticipates $500K economic boost Halloween night

Big crowds translate into big bucks

They're expecting large crowds in downtown Greenville for the Halloween bash Saturday night.
But there are a few things you should know before you head down to the celebration.
Police say it's their busiest night of the year. 125 officers will help monitor thousands of people with the help of several surveillance cameras.
And there are certain items that won't be allowed; this includes alcohol, illegal substances, firearms as well as any fake guns and swords, sticks, staffs, and chains.
If you're not sure whether to bring something just leave it at home.
Everyone who goes downtown will have to go through metal detectors at one of five entry points.
They will block off the streets you see here in red.
That's Cotanche and Evans Streets between Reade Circle and 4th Street. Also 5th Street from Washington to Reade Circle.
Big crowds translate into big bucks. The Greenville Visitors Bureau estimates more than $500,000 impact.
The block party starts at 8pm and wrap at 2am Sunday morning.
